You should never question whether you are "real adult"! You are, and have been one for years. Just look at all of your accomplishments ( I won't list them all here, because it would take too long to do so!), which includes being a wonderful mom. The fact that I make your life easier doesn't detract from who you are as a person, it just allows me to spend my money in the way I think best.

Maybe your negative emotional reaction to your dad's help isn't about the definition of "adult" but about the inherent unfairness of life. Those without generational wealth don't "deserve" a rougher life, and those with it don't "deserve" that safety net. It's all random and unfair. You're allowed to feel bad about that.
