The woman takes her seat in front of the panel of judgers (not to be confused with judges) and immediately adjusts her posture. She doesn’t want to be subjected to yet another lecture about the importance of sitting up straight, especially if you spend your day at the computer. She nervously waits for her weekly review to begin, unsure what part of her life will be picked apart first.
ASPIRATIONAL WELLNESS COUNCIL MEMBER: How was your week?
WOMAN: It was good. Nothing huge to report.
ASPIRATIONAL WELLNESS COUNCIL MEMBER: I’m sorry to hear that. Sounds like a missed opportunity to better yourself.
WOMAN: No, I just mean, nothing overly significant happened.
MINDFULNESS COUNCIL MEMBER: That depends on how you define “significant.” There is great power in being able to connect to, and appreciate, the present moment.
WOMAN: Yeah, definitely, for sure.
MINDFULNESS COUNCIL MEMBER: Do any moments stand out to you when you were fully present?
WOMAN: Ahhh, I mean, I tried to do that thing in the shower that we talked about last time. Where I felt the water on my skin and stuff. That was nice.
MINDFULNESS COUNCIL MEMBER: Describe it to me.
WOMAN: The water was…hot, and, um, wet? Yes, I remember it being very wet in the shower.
PHYSICAL HEALTH COUNCIL MEMBER: If I might interject, you shouldn’t be taking hot showers. It’s bad for your skin. I recommend lukewarm at best.
