Who The Heck Are You?

ME IN REAL LIFE
ME IN MY BRAIN

Hello! In addition to representing myself as a stick figure called Emotional Support Lady, I am also Allison Raskin. I’m a New York Times bestselling author, podcaster, (mostly) former YouTuber and big time mental health advocate. Despite starting my career off in the comedy space, in the the last few years I have turned my focus onto all things mental health. Managing my mental health has always been a big part of my life. I was diagnosed with OCD at age four, and after talking about it on the internet for a few years, I realized there is so much value in sharing our stories to help others feel less alone and defeat damaging stigmas. So that’s what I’m trying to do here: create a safe space and community where we can talk about mental health and provide support for each other. Because if there is one thing I know, it’s that we are not meant to do things alone.

Although I have a master’s degree in psychology from Pepperdine University, I am not a licensed therapist. I am simply a human doing my best. My goal for this platform is to share what I have learned from my own lived experience and through my schooling and research. This is basically a one-stop-shop for any and everything related to mental health—which, coincidentally, turns out to be most things!

What Can I Expect?

This Substack will contain free content that is available to anyone who subscribes and additional content for paid subscribers. I post at least one new piece of content every week alternating between paid and free. So if you upgrade to paid, you get access to everything! Content will range from blogs, advice columns, short fiction, interviews and podcast episodes! The subscription fee is $5/month and you can cancel at any time. (Although I hope you won’t want to!)

I started Emotional Support Lady to foster community. So I don’t just want this Substack to be a platform where you come to consume my content in a vacuum. I also want it to be a community where you can freely share and interact with each other. The emotional support flows many ways here—and I am so thankful for all of you for making that possible!

So Should I Sign Up?

I think so—although I am definitely biased!

Subscribe now for free to get a taste of my work or upgrade to a paid subscriber to get access to all of it. This is a safe space for people who care about prioritizing their mental health and other people’s feelings. There are also a lot of amateur cartoons.

So glad you’re here!
