If you have spent any time in mental health spaces, you’ve probably heard the term “putting in the work.” You have to “put in the work” to get better. You have to “put in the work” to foster a better relationship with yourself. You have to “put in the work” every day, over and over again until you die if you want any shot at being happy or fulfilled. That’s all fine, good and (mostly) true. (I’d argue we’re all owed
I love this post. I told my bf the other day “I’m going to wait to try meds, and just try to be happy first and see if that works.” He said… isn’t that what you’ve already been doing?
I think I could do a better job at intentionally doing the things that I know will help, like taking walks every day. I can talk myself out of some thought spirals, but still struggle heavily with guilt and fear that someone is going to “catch me” doing something I didn’t even know I did.
I want to put in the work, but some days I wonder if I might not be able to feel the way I want to feel without meds.
Thank you for sharing this struggle! I think it's very relatable! And I hope if the day comes that you decide to try meds you have a good doctor who will work with you to find the right combo! You are in the driver's seat! xoxo A
