I think I would really like this book!!!! Your writing has sold it to me!! 😅
I've been trying to embrace this way of thinking in every part of my life since I started deconstructing beliefs I was raised with from the evangelical Christian church. I grew up in Canada, so the flavour of evangelicalism isn't *quite* as potent up here compared to the US, but it still stands that holding your opinions with humility is viewed as having a weak faith in many evangelical denominations. It certainly felt that way to me in the church I grew up in!! After I began deconstructing I then had the mental capacity to come to terms with being gay... something JBU helped me come to accept about myself!! All this to say, embracing a confident humility has only lead to more love for myself and others in my life, and more peace of mind. It is difficult to pretend you know more than you do!! Thank you for writing (so articulately!) about this, Allison!!
Thank you so much for sharing this, Erin! It is so lovely to have been a part of your journey and I'm so excited about all the work you've done! And you're right, it is very difficult to pretend to know everything!
Love this entry! Confident humility is something I’ve been trying to grasp myself and it’s encouraging to hear how we still stay confident in what we are good at and be open to addressing our ignorance and weaknesses. If more people embraced confident humility, I really think we would see better leadership in the workplace, authorities, etc.
Well now I want to know what the original ending was! And this is definitely good perspective for me because my instinct is to say you’re right, keep the ending you’ve wanted forever, we’ll make it work! I am a reader of romcoms but certainly not editor-level expert!
The driving force behind my life is that I know that I know nothing, that there is always things for me to learn, because I will never know everything. Learning new things through others or through new experiences makes life worth living.
dear allison,
this is great!
i love the concept of "confident humility"!
i mean, i'm pretty sure that i love it, but i'm open to changing my mind about that.
thanks for sharing all of this!
love,
myq

I totally agree! Hopefully it will catch on!

Same! Hope at some point we hear about the original idea and how it changed. I'm fascinated about the process of editing a novel
It's not a huge change!! But I'll for sure share when it's out!!
It's the first time I've read about "confident humility" and I really liked the concept. Thank you for sharing!
I'm so glad it resonated!!

Love that perspective!!
